Apocalyptic Visions - New Orleans and Baghdad

The devistation on the Gulf Coast is huge. I mean temporally huge, in the sense that it's hard for me to wrap my mind around it. Two days ago, and as late as yesterday, news reports were putting the death toll at 60, but it didn't square with the rest of the news out of New Orleans. Ongoing search and rescue operations. Overwhelmed relief workers unable to collect the dead bodies. And now the truth is coming out. Thousands dead. This is the biggest American natural disaster of our lifetimes, at least as big as 9/11.

It's all dark news today. Between Katrina and the stampede in Baghdad, it all looks ominous, and things are not about to get a whole lot better. As the global climate changes, the scientific evidence suggests, the huricanes are going to get worse. And as for Iraq and all of it's related problems (resurgent international terrorism, a destablized Middle East), the dark predictions are already coming true.

Contemplating all this destruction is emotionally exhausting, and I don't feel the need to add my own the criticism of George Bush's preparation and planning for the disaster in Luisiana. Maybe I'll write something on that later.

Hello Snap Pac. My name is Jason Paul, I will be starting Brandeis University on Sunday. Since joining Snap Pac I have had the pleasure to speak with representive of many of the great Progressive Candidates we have running in 2006. I will go into greater detail about these races as we move foward, but I just wanted to share my method for finding these races. I use the website www.politics1.com The following link will take you directly to the states page which allows one to find races in all 50 states. http://www.politics1.com/states.htm Feel free to check out various campaigns and suggest ones that you think Snap Pac should look into. Best of look on the start of school for us all.
